Education: Suzanne graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1988 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Francis Marion College in 1992. She went on to complete a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in 2009 and a Master of Philosophy from Walden University. Suzanne earned National Board Certification in English Language Arts in 2011, renewing it successfully in 2020. Suzanne also holds a Ph.D. in Education specializing in Policy, Leadership, and Management from Walden University.
Experience: Suzanne began her career as an educator in 2004. She obtained her teaching certification through South Carolina's Program for Alternative Certification (PACE). Most of her classroom career was spent teaching English and Theory of Knowledge at Sumter High School. While teaching in the Sumter County School District, Suzanne served as a mentor teacher, contributed to curriculum development, and led professional development workshops. She also served as the co-director of the Santee-Wateree Writing Project and as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina.
CERRA: Suzanne joined CERRA during the 2015-16 school year following her recognition as the 2016 South Carolina Teacher of the Year. After completing her residency, she took on the role of Service Program Facilitator. Currently, Suzanne serves as a Program Director, overseeing CERRA’s services in Teacher Leadership, National Board support, and Mentoring.
