"Keep the Dream Alive"
Are you struggling to find employment in a South Carolina school?
If so, here are a few tips from your friends at CERRA to help you stay on course:
- Continue to contact districts in August and September and especially December for positions that open or will be open; let the districts know you are still interested.
- Keep your employment application up-to-date at www.winthrop.edu/scteach.
- Look at add-on certification for a critical need subject area.
- Consider a location in another part of South Carolina or in a hard-to-staff school.
- Consider teaching for the Department of Defense (www.dodea.edu)
- Attend graduate school for an advanced degree.
- Become a substitute teacher.
- Tutor. Local schools and colleges frequently need tutors; call them and distribute your contact information.
- Volunteer in your local schools to network and show your abilities as an educator.
