ROCK HILL— More than 1,000 teachers from over 35 states will flock to Columbia on Monday, June 2 for the 20th annual South Carolina Teacher Expo which will be held at the Cantey Building on the South Carolina State Fairgrounds. Doors will be open from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Expo, which is co-hosted by the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement (CERRA) and South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA), is the only statewide teacher job fair. Emphasis is placed on attracting qualified teachers to fill shortages in art, business, English/language arts, foreign language, industrial technology, media specialist, mathematics, music, science and special education. South Carolina’s school districts are committed to maintaining a diverse teacher presence in the classroom and are eager to interview minority candidates in all teaching areas.

Online pre-registration is available at www.cerra.org until Sunday, May 25. Those who do not pre-register will be required to complete on-site registration beginning at 9 a.m., Monday, June 2 at the Cantey Building.

CERRA, an independent state agency located on the campus of Winthrop University, is the oldest and most established teacher recruitment program in the country. The purpose of CERRA is to provide leadership in identifying, attracting, placing and retaining well-qualified individuals for the teaching profession in South Carolina. CERRA’s programs have been adopted at school, district and state levels in more than 30 states in the United States.
